Today I’m celebrating 12 years of Danica's Kitchen with a question for all my faithful readers! And it’s been so much fun sharing recipes with you for 12 wonderful years; thanks for all the support!
Today Danica's Kitchen is turning 12 years old, can you even believe it? I absolutely never imagined that happening or how blogging would impact my life when I wrote
this humble little post 12 years ago today. I’ve shared the story about how
I lost 42 Pounds and Became a Food Blogger many times, so I won’t repeat those details again, but what a life lesson this blog has been about how if you just keep working at something it can turn out to be so much more than you ever imagined!
Twelve years have brought so many changes in blogging and this blog that I couldn’t begin to list them all, but one thing that hasn’t ever changed is how absolutely rewarding it is when someone tells me how my recipes are helping them to eat healthier meals, lose weight, or control their blood sugar without having to give up delicious food. And this blog would never have lasted 12 years without the wonderful people who visit here often, and that support from readers means the world to me.
Along the blogging journey my personal way of eating has changed from a strict South Beach Diet approach to one that’s more focused on carb-conscious eating in general, and the blog has evolved into a site that features carb-conscious recipes for every type of diet.
And more changes are coming in the fall of 2017! I’m on the waiting list with a web designer who’s created some of the most popular food sites on the web for some big blog updates. That means I’m finally going to take the plunge, switch to WordPress, and add lots of new functionality to Danica's Kitchen that I hope my readers will really like!
Fellow bloggers will understand what a big deal it is to change blogging platforms after 12 years, but for readers who don’t know much about the mechanics of blogging, you can be sure that I’ll do my best to keep the parts of the blog that work well now, while adding features that will make it easier to use and more professional looking.
Which brings me to the question I’d like to ask of everyone who’s reading this:
If you could change one thing about Danica's Kitchen,
what would you want to change, and why?
Thank you, thank you, thank you in advance for your feedback to help me improve Danica's Kitchen for you. And THANK YOU again to everyone who has helped make this blogging journey so rewarding and fulfilling for me. Blogging has enriched my life in countless ways, and I am grateful every day for all the blog helpers, blogging friends, readers, and family members who have been a part of that. And even though occasionally people ask when I am going to actually retire, right now I’m looking forward to happily sharing recipes for many years to come.

I love your blog as it is. But if there were a downloadable ingredient list, we could get a both a shopping list and nutritional info. Maybe it could be as simple as copy and paste for both you and us.
I wouldn't have the slightest idea how to create something like that. And if I did figure it out, adding it to 2000+ recipes doesn't seem like an achievable task. I guess I am not sure why you couldn't copy and paste the ingredients list from the printer-friendly recipe page.
By the way, I typed that on my phone and it came out sounding more dismissive than I intended. If there is more info you could provide about what you mean, I am willing to investigate it a bit when I get on WordPress. But as for now, it doesn't sound like something I could do. Glad you are enjoying the blog.
Glad you are enjoying the blog! I can definitely try to be more consistent at offering side dish suggestions for main courses. But I don't think menus or menu planning are something I could ever offer here. (I don't even do it for myself!) Not only do I have no experience with it, but since the idea of this site is carb-conscious recipes for many different diet types, it seems impossible to plan a menu that would work for all those varied diets.
Happy Birthday! I really like your site. I would like to see more full menus and menu planning. Also some suggested side dishes to serve with the main courses. Thank you.
Hi Kalyn, Your blog is fantastic – for myself it's great and the pictures are super helpful. As a Librarian, I mention it to patrons who are looking for nutrition and diet books.
My only suggestions would be more articles and information about cooking with spices to boost flavor; for example, garlic (using minced, fresh, etc.), peppers (fresh – and what to do with the seeds, black pepper, red pepper, etc.), onions (the different varieties), paprikas, cayenne, cumin … well, you get the point!
Lastly, less articles about asparagus – LOL, I'm just not a fan of asparagus!
Thanks for your hard work and doing such a great job!
HI Patty, Thanks for the nice feedback! I appreciate you giving me a shout-out. Thanks for the suggestions. I will try to tone down the asparagus love a bit, but unfortunately the blog always has to be mostly about what I am cooking for myself!
Hi Kalyn, I love your blog. For me though I would love to have Weight Watcher recipes!! I know that's not your speciality but you did ask!! Keep up the good work.
Thanks Donna! I don't think that is ever going to happen. I've never done weight watchers and wouldn't have a clue how to figure those points.
ha ha – yeah I didn't think so!! But I do love all your recipes!! Thank you!
I count on your blog for good information about a carb-conscious diet, as I'm insulin-resistant. After being bored with tasteless low carb, dairy-free, sugar-free food, I've found a new interest in cooking — because of you! Change nothing, and please don't give up the good fight!
Thanks Jay! So glad to hear my recipes have been beneficial for you! Definitely I am keeping at it!
Kalyn, thanks for all your delicious recipes throughout the years! You've helped me become more efficient and streamline my time spent in the kitchen. I often refer to your recipes which have helped me to prepare so many dishes with rave reviews! As always, I'm looking for one pot or sheet pan meals where everything can be baked together in under an hour. After all, my favorite part of the meal is spent enjoying good health with my family! Thanks for your continued inspiration!!
So glad you are enjoying the recipes, and I am all about easy one-pan meals myself!
I love your page and wouldn't change a thing! You have no idea how much you have helped me on my weight loss journey. I've gone from a SNUG size 16 to a size 10-working on an 8. I love that your recipes are easy to follow and not so time intensive to make. Thank you and HAPPY BLOGIVERSARY! Keep up the good work!
Cissy, I love hearing that, and thanks for the good wishes!
As you know, I LOVE your site and your recipes and use several of them every week. I've referred many people to your site, both on Facebook and whenever anyone asks for good, healthy recipes. Like other commenters, I would like to see nutritional information on your recipes; however, I use CRON-o-Meter all the time, so I manage on that front just fine. I often adapt them to be more in line with The Zone diet. What I would REALLY like to see, though, are more fish and seafood recipes and in general, more veggies in all of them! JD 🙂
Hi Judith! Thanks for being one of my most loyal followers! The comments about the nutritional information have been duly noted. Will work on more fish and seafood and more veggies!
Wouldn't change anything. Keep the veggie-full recipes!
Thanks Elle. Definitely lots of veggies always on my mind!
I love your column; I can't say I love to cook, but for that reason, I need good recipes. I wrote you many years ago when my husband got cancer and I needed recipes to keep him eating. I have made so many of your recipes over the years and I'm glad to report that my husband is cancer free, and he didn't lose any weight over five years of chemotherapy!! Thank you.
Thanks Betsy, I love hearing that it was helpful for you. That is wonderful news about your husband!
I think the biggest compliment I can give you is that I didn't even realize your recipes were carb-conscious until I'd been using them for awhile. They were just so delicious. Now I do try to limit carbs, and your site is even more useful to me. Not sure I understand what is meant by the recipe "plug-in"; I use MasterCook to store my recipes on my computer, and I can usually import them from your site with MasterCook's import assistant. It's important to me to continue to be able to import to MasterCook. And if I had one other wish, it would be that you didn't use so much cilantro 🙂 . I know–lots of people love it, but to some of us it tastes like soap. The advice just to leave it out doesn't usually work because it's an essential part of the flavor package for those recipes that use it. Perhaps a suggestion of a substitute that would add a compatible flavor would help. Thanks for all you do, and good luck in making the change of platform.
I love that you didn't realize the recipes were carb conscious, and that now that you know you like it. So glad you're enjoying the recipes. A recipe plug-in is just a section in the post that formats the recipe into a box; most recipe websites use one. I think it will work fine with Master Cook, can't imagine why not. Have you had trouble importing recipes from any other website?
I wonder if the recipes you're seeing with cilantro are older ones because for quite a few years now I've been offering the suggestion of thinly sliced green onion, which I think works perfectly as a substitute?
Thanks, Kalyn. I guess I've not been looking too closely at the dreaded cilantro recipes. I had not realized that you are now suggesting thinly sliced green onion as a cilantro replacement. That sounds like it would work. I've seen some recipes that suggest parsley, but somehow, to me, parsley just isn't right. I'll give green onion a try.
Add me to the would love to see nuetritinal information added list. I do however understand you have a literal ton of recipes already posted so that would be a huge undertaking. My husband is a diet controlled type 2 diabetic and we use a lot of your recipes. I find that a large percent of the time even when I am perusing other recipes sites such as yummly the recipes I am drawn to are from Kalyn's Kitchen! Between us my husband and I have lost over 190lbs since he was diagnosed 2 years ago and it certainly would have been a much blander journey without your blog. Thank you and keep the lovely recipes coming! We love them!
So glad to hear my recipes have made your weight loss and lowering blood sugar journey much tastier! And thanks for understanding about the nutritional information. It really is a HUGE undertaking. And it's also very hard to do it correctly because you never know for how much people will eat, what products they will use, etc. But I do realize how helpful it would be for some people, and if I can make it work I will.
Hello, I love your website, especially the search by diet type option. Like others have said… nutritional info. would be very helpful. That is something I take into consideration before deciding whether or not to even try a recipe. Also, I know this is asking a lot but I'm having a really hard time finding high fiber, low carb recipes. Any of those type would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all you do!
Glad you like the recipes-by-diet-type options! I will do my best on the nutritional information but can't promise until I check into it more. Thanks for the nudge about high-fiber / low-carb. I am not sure where to start there but I'll give it some thought.
I know… high fiber/low carb is very difficult… thank you!!
Thanks for all of the great recipes and tips you've shared over the years! I am on Low Carb, High Fat for Weight Loss and Type 2 Diabetes control. I have also blogged about your recipes in the last 8 years. Here's to another 12!! Congratulations. Keep up the good work. I wouldn't change a thing, but if you do, I'm sure it will be awesome!
Thanks for that nice feedback Glenda, so kind of you!
I love your recipes and blog! I just wish you'd publish a cookbook with pictures of the final product! I'd buy it in a second! Happy Anniversary!
Glad you are enjoying the recipes. I am not eager to work even more than I do, so not sure there is a cookbook in my future. But never say never I guess!
Congratulations on 12 years! Always look forward to your next recipes – love low carb recipes! My daughter and I make your orzo salad every annual summer bbq – and it's everyone's favorites. I would love to see videos for some recipes that are more complex! Thank you for sharing!
Hi Lisa, so glad you are enjoying the recipes. I am not enthused about the idea of spending even more time on recipes making videos, I'll be honest about that. But I will give it more thought.
Kalyn, I have been reading your blog for years and your recipes are staples in our diet. We would definitely not be eating as well or as deliciously without your vast contributions over the years. My one request is that you go a little more into technique with some recipes. I find I change the order of doing things in some recipes because I have learned from other sources, like Cooks Illustrated, techniques that enhance flavor or make the process go more smoothly. Perhaps a regular feature or guest blogger focused on technique, the whys, wherefores and science of doing it a certain way? Thank you so much for all you do and keeping the blog going. You are amazing!!!
Candace, glad you have been enjoying the recipes. I write the recipes the way I make them so unless I learn how to cook all over again, I'm not sure I can change the techniques. And I am not going to have guest bloggers, but I could link to some other pieces on certain techniques. I will think more about this.
BTW Candace, despite Cooks Illustrated and sites like that, I don't think there is anything wrong with different people using cooking techniques that are slightly different!
Big happy birthday Kalyn! For me the best change would be not too many changes. I'm also a fan of not having so many gadgets to cook with, other than a slow cooker,I like to even use the stove, and oven once in awhile, and keeping it simple. You've done a great job of helping us all,and it is appreciated.
Glad you are enjoying the blog, and definitely will try not to have too many things changed!
Congratulations on you 12th blogging anniversary. Your site is one that I read faithfully (and get your email notices when a post is up). Great recipes! I hope you keep offering cooking methods when you make instant pot recipes – I have no plans to get another gadget to clutter up my kitchen.
I like the way your recipes are organized – the cabbage ones, the zucchini ones, etc.
Great site, great job!
Thanks Lorrie; so glad you are enjoying the site. And definitely I am planning to offer multiple cooking methods when I can!
I found your blog just 6 months ago but your recipes are the ones I return to again and again! I agree with those who encourage you to keep it yours, with your style. There are many programs and recipe grabbers that can do nutritional info for those who want it. I recommend your site to everyone I know! Congratulations on 12 years!
Thank you Kyrazy! And thanks for recommending me, that means a lot!
Happy Anniversary!
12 years of blogging such great content is a serious achievement 🙂
Thanks Gerri! It's just one day at a time, always plugging away at it!
You know I'm one of your biggest fans, Kalyn! Twelve years is incredible, so hearty congrats to you! I actually thought that you have been smart to stick with Blogger (like Karina and a few others have). While there are limitations, there's a lot that you don't have to worry about with Blogger because the platform itself takes care of so much. WordPress requires constant updates and most of them come with a cost. That said, I hope you really enjoy having the freedom of choice that comes with a WordPress blog.
Shirley
Thanks Shirley! You have captured completely why it's been so difficult for me to make the decision to switch. But it has gotten to the point where my google search traffic has gone down, down, down, every year and I've realized I just can't compete in search without a recipe plug-in. I know it will be endless headaches. I am glad to have Jennette to do the maintenance stuff, and I know some of the new functionality will be good; I just hope I end up feeling it's worth it. I am switching Slow Cooker from Scratch right now, so I can learn it on that site!
That's a really good idea on the latter, Kalyn. I have had a recipe plug-in for years and my traffic still goes down with every Google update. Then I have to build readership back up. It's very frustrating. Certainly having Jennette on your team is a big, big plus. I'm hoping it will all work out for you. I know that you usually relish a challenge, and you certainly have a huge readership base, both of which should make it all work out!
I love it the way it is and any changes you make im sure will be great! I've made many many of your recipes and never had a bad one!
Thank you for that vote of confidence Kelly!
I love your blog and have been following it for over five years now. It's the number one place I go to look for recipes. I'd like to see the calories and nutritional info for the recipes included.
Thanks Shawn. As I said, I am definitely going to check into that!
I love your blog and it is one of the few where I read EVERY post and usually add the recipe to pinterest. Nutritional info would be great going forward. But truthfully, after you have been watching carbs for a while, you can pretty much figure out the carb load of a recipe by looking at the ingredients. Your recipes are invaluable. Thank you for what you do!!
Thanks Marsha, so glad you have enjoyed it!
I'd love to be able to search your recipes using more than one criteria, like keto + egg-free for example. We love your recipes!
I don't know if that would ever be possible. I'm pretty sure it's not possible with the google custom search (especially not egg-free, because that's not something I mention so there would be nothing for the search engine to find.) Have you experimented with combining search terms in the current search, for example "low-carb + Paleo". I know that will sometimes work. Thanks for the suggestion; I will definitely check into it.
If your search will allow you to negate ingredients, you could accomplish this. For example, in Google you can search for "keto" and "-egg"–thereby asking for something that contains the search term "keto" but doesn't have the term "egg." Could that work?
Kate's mom, that might work, will experiment.
Been with you from year 2. You do a great job of being normal and real. Many other food blogs are good but endup becoming excessive and compulsive. Keep real just like you are.
Thanks! I do try hard to keep it real!
Congrats!!!! You've been my favorite since day one! I don't really have anything that I would change other than to welcome you to WordPress!
Thanks Pam. I will be relying on you for questions because I'm sure I'll have a lot of them!
Love your recipes and stories. Usually try a new one every week or 2. Definitely helps us eat healthy. Can't think of a thing to change.
Thanks so much, glad you are enjoying the recipes!
Kalyn, I love your website. It is easy to navigate and love the way I can print just the recipe to place in my Kalyn's Kitchen binder.
The only thing I can think of to add would be your photograph. A picture of you cooking something with a long view of your cooking center, or with your adorable grand nieces and nephews. Your site looks like you put a lot of effort and energy into it. Keep it up and love to see the new WordPress site.
Thanks Wanda, glad you are enjoying the recipes. More pictures of the kids might be fun!
You have always been my favorite food blog (for almost the 12 years you've been blogging your recipes!). The favorite recipe (for Holiday Ham leftovers) is Crockpot (or Stovetop) Ham and Cabbage Soup with Red Bell Pepper – always delicious.
I am single and do make your recipes to divide into freezer containers. But I would like to see some food prep posts to divide into 4 or 5 lunches or dinners the you can make at the same time.
Hi Sandy, great to hear from you. So glad you are still enjoying the recipes! I'm afraid I have no idea how to do food prep like you're talking about; I've never done that in my life. But I will watch for it on other blogs and see if I can learn something!
Honestly, I can't think of a thing. You and this blog have been a major part of getting my blood sugar under control when I was feeling pretty defeated in that fight. So many recipes that you have shared are favorites of mine and my family. I guess my only request is that you don't stop doing what you do! Happy anniversary! Here's to many more!
So glad to hear the blog has been useful to you in that way! And no plans to quit any time soon!
I only started paying attention to your blog in the last few months when I decided to try a lower carb diet to help me control my weight. Since then, your site has become my favorite. I have never made one of your recipes that we didn't love. My only suggestion is to add nutritional data to your recipes. I know that isn't easy, but it would sure help me because I log all my food on SparkPeople (another great website) to keep track of calories, carbs, fat, etc. Some days I don't try a new recipe because I don't feel like doing all the nutritional input. LOL- I want you to do more of the work, but either way I will still love your blog.
So glad you have been enjoying the recipes. If you've read any of the comments above, you'll notice I am not promising nutritional data (so hard to add it to 2,000+ recipes and I CANNOT spend months doing something like that and keep up with the blog.) But I will look into it!
I am away from home, with very limited connections and could not read your full post right now. Will do so later.
to answer your question, I don't even need to read it – here it is: change absolutely nothing!
it is your site, go with your flow, and that's what makes it so special and nice!
Congratulations on a fantastic milestone! Proof of endurance, commitment, skill, wisdom, joie de vivre!
YOU ROCK!
Thanks Sally! You rock as well; hope we can meet in person some time!
that would be amazing!!!!!!
Happy 12th anniversary.
Thank you!
Nothing at all! It's perfect as it is. Your blog is one of the first blogs I used to read, probably the first food blog I came across 🙂
Thanks Margot, I do remember those days!
Congratulations! Your blog is exceptional! You will enjoy the WordPress platform, although it takes a little adjusting (at least it did for me). Your new-look design will be lovely, I'm sure. I'll be following along… 🙂
Thanks Donna! I am scared to switch, but I know it will be okay!
I love your site. The recipes have been great and have turned into family faves. I concur that adding nutritional info would be very helpful. You might also experiment with videos, too–if it's not too much work with the new platform. Thanks for your dedication and hard work. I appreciate it!
Thank you for that! I am considering nutritional info as I mentioned above, so I won't go through my concerns about that here. There are slide-show videos in some recipes, not sure if I will ever commit to doing live video though. Every change like that is tons of extra work and I work too much already!
You are my absolute number one go to website for recipes. I always go to Kalyn's first! I love that you publish carb conscious recipes that really are adaptable for any diet. Your ingredients call for real food that is affordable and is a realistic lifestyle change, not a rigid diet.
So I like that there aren't detailed calorie counts at the bottom of every recipe. I like that your site isn't full of sweet dessert recipes. I wade through sweet recipes anytime I visit another low carb bog. I love that you don't have weekly or daily diet plans. I love how I can search by recipe or ingredient and find something I want to make.
This is your blog and is reflective of your tastes and personality. I admire you being open to constructive criticism, that's tough! You have evolved and grown on your own and are doing a great job! I wouldn't change a thing. Thanks Kalyn!!
Thank you so much, and good to know that there are people who are satisfied with the things I feel I can manage, so much to do for every post!
Congratulations Kalyn! You've created something amazing. No change requests from me! 🙂
Thanks Karen! Love your blog too!
I enjoy your blog and recipes. No changes/
Thanks Alice!
I love your Posts! I started following you when I was trying south beach, and was excited to know you are local, and love herbs (kinda my passion too!) The biggest change I would love to see is the carb counts listed, as I am very carb conscious and it is hard to find the time to run everything through a nutrient calculator. I love that you mix all the different types of low carb so successfully. I do eat more keto, so this would really help in keeping my macros Straight!
I'm definitely going to investigate nutritional information, but as I have said to others, I worry about the time involved in converting 2,000+ recipes and it's not something I can spend months doing. So I can only say I will check into it when I do the new design, can't promise anything!
Thai Chicken Soup is a go-to for me. People swoon when I make it. And I CANNOT cook. Happy Anniversary. I'm jumping back on South Beach, so please keep that tab up and updated. And I agree that pictures are always helpful.
Glad you have enjoyed it! And for sure SBD recipes will always be part of this site!
I'm about to do a "deep dive" into your recipes as I try to eat healthier and avoid some foods (including some that I truly love.) It's too early in the process for me to say if there is anything more I'd like to see on the site – for the moment, I can only say bravo for the site and thanks for being such an inspiration on many levels.
Thanks Laura, good luck with the new healthier eating journey.
Happy Blogiversary! I love your site and your delicious recipes! If anything, I'd like to be able to favorite or bookmark recipes for future reference and maybe see what other people with similar taste have faved. Full menu ideas for dinner parties? Have you considered coming out with a hard copy book with all your illustrations? Thank you so much for all your hard work, it's made my life and my family's life better!
You could use the site Yummly (which I have the button for up at the top) to save recipes to a recipe box, which might work the way you're describing. I did do one post of full menus for dinners for Valentine's day, and truthfully it was a lot of work and didn't get much attention. And no plans to spend what precious free time I have writing a book; I work on the site 6-8 hours nearly every day. Never say never, but so far I have not been able to convince myself to do that! Thanks for the vote of confidence though!
I have no input on what to change. I want to say happy anniversary! I love your blog and whenever I get stumped it's the first place I go and whenever anyone is looking for healthy delicious recipes it's the first place I link to them! Thank you for all the time and energy you put into your blog!
Thanks so much for those kind thoughts; so glad you have enjoyed it!
Honestly, your blog is my favorite food site on the www. Our family loves your recipes and I love that they are good for me, health wise. Maybe a few more carb-conscious desserts? THANK YOU for all you have done! May you live and blog forever!
Thanks Donna and Anne. That is always on my list; I will try harder!
I love your site! The only thing I can think of to change is how the search results display. With the sponsor ad sites results posting first, it's confusing. I'm only interested in seeing your recipes here–or at least I'd like to see them first.
Julie, I wish that was possible. Unfortunately having those ads there makes the use of the Google Search Engine for the site free to me and I can't change the placement of the ads.. I experimented with the paid one (without ads) but it was really $$$ and didn't give as good of results.
Your recipes have had a big impact on my diet. I love how I can search by ingredient and always come up with something delicious that's easy to prepare. The one change I would love to see is the addition of calories per serving. That would be huge for those of us who use trackers like My Fitness Pal. I don't need full nutritional info, just that.
If I could make a magic wish and get anything I want, I would wish for your recipes to have a QR code embedded in them that I could just scan so it would all auto-populate into my phone (ingredient list to take with me to the store, nutrition details for tracking apps, etc).
Thanks so much for your great work!
Congratulations Kalyn on 12 impressive years!! I think you need more Instant Pot recipes 🙂
Thanks Barbara, FOR SURE that is happening!
I love your recipes and try them on my husband all the time! Maybe adding a daily or weekly diet plan of your own would be a good next step. Monday breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, etc.
Thanks Cynthia! I am not sure I can do that, I can barely keep up with the weekly schedule as it is. But maybe occasional menus like the one I did for Valentine's Day this year.
Congratulations Kalyn! I've been following you since the days of the old Prevention South Beach message boards! I love your recipes, and have used many as a springboard to develop my own favorites as well. I wouldn't want you to change a thing!!
Thanks for the long time support!
For 12 years you have been a shining light in the blog world, and a model for many thousands of bloggers who came after (including me). Thank you for all you do, for all you have done, and for having the courage to keep changing and growing your blog.
Thank you Lydia, so glad we both started blogging so we could become such good friends!
Keep doing what you are doing!!
Thanks Stephanie! Meeting new friends like you is one of the most fun things about blogging.
I'm a longtime reader, and have recently been eating much less meat. I'd love it if your great bean recipes were better accessible in a vegetarian section. I love your Amy's white chili (and always make it meatless) along with your lentil picadillo recipes.
Glad you have enjoyed the recipes. I hadn't thought about that for the green beans recipes, but you can always type green beans into the search bar and see them all!
We have followed your blog for years, thank you for making healthy eating accessible! More instant pot conversions would be greatly appreciated!
Definitely planning on that, thanks! So glad you have enjoyed the recipes!
Hi Kalyn,
I enjoy your recipes and blog as it is. If anything please add some more InstantPot Whole 30 or Paleo recipes Thanks so much
Deblynne, definitely that is something I am planning on!
I can't think of a thing. Happy 12th blogiversary! I've made many of your recipes multiple times. Thank you for blogging.
Thanks so much!
Not a thing. You do a great job!
Thanks Amy!
I always enjoy your site, and look forward to reading about the new recipes you are developing. It would be great if you could add a picture to the printed recipe. Anne
Thanks Anne! I am pretty sure that's something that can happen pretty easily in the new design, but it will take a while before all the recipes get changed over to the recipe plug-in. Thanks!
This is also the one change I would like. I'm a visual person, and find it helpful to have a picture with the recipe as I'm preparing it, or looking through my files later as I decide what to cook.
Your recipes and your narratives are great. Since I have no plans to acquire an Instant Pot, I appreciate your continuing to show alternative cooking methods; also appreciate your pointing out for which particular diets (SB, paleo, etc) each recipe is appropriate, and how to adapt. It's also helpful when you suggest possible accompanying dishes to make a meal.
I can only imagine the amount of thought and care you put into your work, and I thank you!
Definitely I am hoping to have that as an option for the new design, thanks Winanne!
I love your blog! I have tried so many of the recipes, and they are always delicious. I would love to see nutritional information included with the recipes.
Susan, that it something I am definitely considering with the new design. But to be honest, it's hard to start down that path since I have nearly 2,000 past recipes and I feel like once I add it to a recipe people will expect to see it on every recipe. And that is months and months of work. But I am definitely considering it!
Alot of diet tracking apps (such as My Fitness Pal) will figure out nutritional info for you as long as ingredients are entered. You can manually enter or upload from a website. I've tried with yours (because I love your blog) but it doesn't pull well from the blog format. If the ingredients list could be made to pull for those types of apps, that could be a great compromise!
This is one thing that will definitely be improved with the new design. WordPress will allow the use of a recipe plug-in that has behind-the-scenes info to identify recipe ingredients for Google and for Apps like you are describing. Unfortunately, every recipe has to be converted by hand. I will hire someone to do it, but it won't happen immediately after the site is re-designed. This is one of the biggest reasons I'm changing to WordPress, to be able to use a recipe plug-in!
Glad to hear it. that is the only change I wish for.
Just to be clear, that process is not automatic. So it could be months and months before all the recipes are switched to the plug-in. But definitely planning to do it, or possibly hire someone to do it.
Happy blogiversary!
Thanks Denise!
