PIN the low-carb Olive Bread to make it later!
I’m excited to share this new recipe for low-carb and gluten-free Olive Bread! This is an easy-to-make almond flour bread that has so much flavor from hemp seeds, Greek oregano, Greek Seasoning, olives, and Feta cheese.
I worked on the recipe with Kara for a couple of weeks to get the final version you see here, and when I tried the bread out on my brother Rand who is visiting Utah, he said it was one of the best breads he’s ever tasted!
This is a moist bread from the Feta cheese and you’ll get best results if you let the Olive Bread cool about 30 minutes before you slice it. And of course it’s delicious when it’s freshly made, but I’ve been keeping the leftovers in the fridge and then toasting it in my much-loved Cuisinart Convection Air Fryer Toaster Oven (affiliate link) for about a minute.
I like the toasted bread with a bit of butter, although that’s completely optional! If you like olives and Feta cheese I hope you’ll try this fun new Olive Bread recipe soon!
What ingredients do you need for this recipe?
(This is only a list of ingredients; please scroll down for complete printable recipe. Or if you use the JUMP TO RECIPE link at the top of the page, it will take you directly to the complete recipe.)
- Almond Flour (affiliate link)
- Hemp Seeds (affiliate link)
- baking powder
- Greek Oregano (affiliate link)
- Greek Seasoning (affiliate link)
- eggs
- green onion
- Feta cheese
- can of sliced olives
What size pan did I use for the Olive Bread?
I used a 9 inch x 5 inch loaf pan (affiliate link) for this recipe. But the pan was not completely full, so if you have a pan that’s just slightly smaller than that I think it will work.
What kind of hemp seeds did I use?
There are many brands of hemp seeds, and all add a nutty flavor and add a nice texture to baked goods. But I am partial to a brand called Hemp Hearts (affiliate link) which is what I used for this recipe.
Can you use Kalamata Olives in this olive bread?
We made the bread with sliced black olives, but if you’re a fan of Kalamata olives I think they would be delicious in this recipe.

- Let bread cool about 30 minutes in the pan. Then slice and eat!
- I haven’t tried freezing this bread yet, but I’m guessing it will freeze well.
- The Olive Bread will stay good in the fridge for several days and it’s delicious toasted and eaten with a little butter.

This looks great! I’m considering making this with the yummy Trader Joe’s Vegan Feta Alternative.
What’s is the purpose of the feta in this recipe? If it’s just for flavor, it will work. If it is for binding the bread together by melting, it won’t work as well.
I’ve never tried melting that vegan feta. however, most vegan cheese don’t melt as well. Thank you so much for your hard work. I’m going to Sprouts to see if they have bulk Greek seasoning.. Otherwise, I will follow your recipe.
I think vegan Feta should work here, it doesn’t need to be that melted to hold the bread together. I hope it works for you!
This is one of my favorite recipes. Going to the beach for the weekend and I have a loaf in the oven baking. This will be my breakfast, with either butter or Avocado. Thanks for all your work!!
Ruth
So glad to hear you are enjoying it!
Made this loaf last night for dinner. It was delicious. Used Kalamata olives and it was very tasty. Just had a slice for breakfast. Will be making this again!
Thanks Kayla!!
So glad you enjoyed the recipe!
Nice
Glad you liked it!
This bread sounds fabulous but I can’t use hemp seeds.
What would you recommend as a substitute for the hemp seeds?
I haven’t ever tested the recipe with anything else, so I can’t say for sure what would work. The recipe has a lot of hemp seeds, which add to the texture so I don’t think just more almond flour would give the same result. Maybe google “what can replace hemp seeds in baking” and then use what is recommended, maybe partly replacing the hemp seeds with almond flour and then adding another type of seed to make up the rest if they recommend a strongly-flavored ingredient like flax seed.
Thank you for this recipe. This bread is easy to make and delicious!
I made this today and wasn’t thrilled. I guess I’m tired of almond flour and excessive egg bread like recipes. From now on it’s lupin flour and vital wheat gluten types of bread recipes for me, as nothing else compares. I also would recommend real kalamata olives if you can get them. I used regular canned olives and the flavor is very mild. Can’t really taste them.
Sorry it wasn’t a winner for you. I’ve made it for a few different people and it’s always been a hit, and recently it was mentioned in a Keto facebook group where it got a lot of good comments as well, but everyone has different preferences.
Is this gluten free?
Yes, the icons above the recipe title can tell you that quickly. GF means gluten-free!
Hi Kalyn, do you think this would work in a breakfast strata? I have some in the freezer and may try it. Love, love your recipes! I have for years!
So glad you are enjoying the recipes! There is definitely an olive flavor to the bread so that would need to work with the other ingredients in the breakfast strata. Otherwise, seems like it should work fine!
I was lucky enough to have a taste of this from Kalyn’s very kitchen when I visited recently and it is delicious. A keeper in my book.
Thanks Laurel, so fun having you visit!
Hi Kalyn
Can I use goats cheese instead of the fetta I will give it a go and see what happens as it sounds lovely
Thanks Karen
Yes, I think that should work although it’s a bit softer than Feta. But I like the sound of it!
may this recipe be made without dairy? we can’t do dairy at my house.
Since Feta Cheese is such an important part of the flavor profile here as well as being a major ingredients you would have to replace that with some type of non-dairy cheese. I’m not familiar enough with that type of product to be able to recommend something, but I’d love to hear about it if you find something that works.
Too bad I see this 2 years later. I just asked about the TJs Vegan Feta Alternative. But sheep’s milk and goats milk don’t cause the same digestive problems as cow’s milk,
